We admit it Grace Church isn’t perfect.

We’re full of messy people. Our volunteers, staff members, and leaders don’t have it all together. In fact, every one of them is a sinner.

The people who attend Grace services? They’re sinners, too: drunks, addicts, adulterers, liars, gossipers, gluttons, abusers, selfish, jealous, and divisive – and worse.

But we wouldn’t have it any other way.

Why we want to be a messy Church

The Church cannot be concerned with maintaining an image of perfection if we want to obey Jesus. Jesus has never been afraid to embrace the controversy of associating with the wrong crowd.

The Church was created for imperfect people. It exists to help imperfect people meet Jesus and follow Him step by step. Our imperfections are not projects to fix, but opportunities to see a miracle.

Each of us has a story about how Jesus met us in our mess and has been changing us from the inside out.

We can’t fix each other, but we can support, correct, and encourage each other. Jesus removes our sins and we learn to live in the freedom He’s given us by His death on a cross and resurrection from an empty tomb (Romans 6:6-8).

No Perfect People Allowed

For any church (or person) to claim perfection would be a scandal. Church isn’t a place of perfection, but of progress. We make progress when we listen to Jesus and do what He says (Philippians 3:13-14).

Once we’ve met Jesus, our lives never stay the same. We were stuck in our imperfection, but God doesn’t leave us there. When we come to Jesus admitting we’re flawed and struggling with sin, He forgives us and takes over our lives so we learn to do life His way. God’s mercy covers all our mistakes (Isaiah 55:6-7).

As we take our next steps in our walks with Jesus, people notice. The closer we follow Jesus’ example, the more we will attract people far from God. No one is too controversial or scandal-ridden for God’s grace.

If you’re looking for a safe, perfect church, sorry. We’re not it. We’re a work in progress but God isn’t done with us. We’ve got a lot of flaws, but He’s got even more patience.

However, if you’re looking for a church full of imperfect people who struggle but take one step at a time with Jesus, you’ve found us. We’re glad to have you.

Articles of Faith

  • We believe the holy scriptures, as contained in the old and New Testament, to be the verbally inspired word and revelation of God, inerrant, and God-breathed as given in the original manuscript. psalm 19:7-11; 2 TIMOTHY 3:16,17; 2PETER 1:16-21; lUKE 24:13-28; JOHN 16:12-16; JONAH 1:1

  • We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ, his virgin birth, that He is the incarnate Son of God, the second person in the blessed Trinity, VERY GOD OF VERY GOD, FOR WHOM AND BY WHOM all things were created. (John 1:1-14; 14:9; Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-25; John 10:36.) Man is not an evolved beast, but fallen creation. (Genesis 1:26,27; 2:7.) he can only be re-created in righteousness in Jesus Christ. (2Cor. 5:17; Titus 3:4; john 1:12,13.)

  • We believe in the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit--three persons (1 john 5:1-8). The Holy Spirit is the infallible interpreter of the infallible scriptures (John 16:7-15)

  • We BELIEVE in the substitutionary atonement of the Lord Jesus Christ that He, by the grace of God, tasted death for every man and that all must be born again or are forever lost. (Hebrews 2:9; john6:44-69; 3:1-18; Romans 3:25; Rev.1:5; Hebrews 9:22; 1peter 1:18,19.)

  • We BELIEVE in the bodily resurrection of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that He ascended bodily into the heavens, and is now at the right hand of God as our mediator, priest, and advocate. (Acts 3:12-26; John 20; Hebrews 9:24; 1cor. 15:12-28.)

  • We BELIEVE that man is justified on the single ground of faith in the shed blood of our lord and savior, Jesus Christ. (Romans 5:1.)

  • We BELIEVE in the eternal security of all believers in our Lord Jesus JESUS CHRIST (John 10:27-29.)

  • We BELIEVE that a visible church of christ is a congregation of baptized believers, associated by faith and fellowship of the gospel; observing the ordinances of Christ; governed by His laws, and exercising the rights and privileges invested in them by his word; that its only SCRIPTURAL officers are bishops or pastors, and deacons, whose qualifications, claims and duties are defined in the epistles to Timothy and Titus.

  • We believe that God has commanded that no intimate sexual activity should be engaged outside of a marriage between a man and a woman. We believe that any form of homosexuality, lesbianism, bisexuality, bestiality, incest, fornication, adultery, and pornography are sinful perversions of God’s gift of sex. (Gen.2:24; Rom.7:2; 1 Cor. 7:1; Eph5:22-23)

  • We BELIEVE that scriptural baptism is the immersion in water of a believer, in the name of the Father, and Son and Holy Spirit; to show forth, in a solemn and beautiful emblem, our faith in the crucified, buried, and risen Savior, with its effect in our death to sin and resurrection to a new life; that it is prerequisite to the PRIVILEGES of a church relation; and to the lord's supper; in which the members of the church, by the sacred use of bread and juice, are to commemorate together the dying love of Christ; preceded always by solemn self-EXAMINATION.
